The BAC × APU × TARUMT
Chess Collaboration

On 26th April 2025, the BAC PJ Campus played host to an exciting inter-university chess collaboration, bringing together 29 passionate players from Brickfields Asia College (BAC), Asia Pacific University (APU), and Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TARUMT).
Organised jointly by the chess clubs of all three institutions, the event was more than just a tournament—it was a celebration of strategy, sportsmanship, and shared passion.
The aim? To create a platform for friendly competition, meaningful connections, and mutual learning, all within a fun, inclusive environment that champions the timeless game of chess.
Two formats were featured:
♟ Blitz Chess – fast-paced and adrenaline-charged, testing players' instincts and reaction time.
♟ Rapid Chess – slightly longer matches that allowed for deeper strategic planning and thoughtful play.
The event saw a vibrant mix of playing styles and personalities. Many participants met for the first time, yet the room was filled with laughter, support, and shared enthusiasm for the game. It also saw great sportsmanship, where players demonstrated respect, encouragement, and enthusiasm throughout. Community building and new friendships were formed, and inter-university bonds strengthened.
The collaboration was a big win for everyone involved. Beyond the matches played and points scored, the event succeeded in building bridges between campuses and growing the chess community. This is just the beginning, and they are certainly looking forward to more inter-university chess events in the future. Until then, keep your kings protected and your minds sharp!
