Which Comms Course Is Best For Me?

As the leading creative communications college in the region, IACT College has perhaps the largest number of Undergraduate and Pre-U courses. This choice is great, but it can also be confusing. Here we will give you an idea of what each course is all about and what you will require to enrol for each course.

PRE-U COURSES:

Certificate in Communication Studies

This an 18 month foundation programme for students who have less than 3 credits in the SPM/IGCSE or equivalent school leaving certificate. It lays the foundation for creative thinking and prepares students to enrol for any IACT diploma course.

Foundation in Media Studies
This is a 12 month programme that will expose you to the fundamentals of digital creative communication, media and design. It prepares students to enrol in any of the degrees taught by IACT College, including the UK Transfer Degree Programme. Entry to this programme requires a minimum of 5 credits in the SPM/IGCSE or equivalent school leaving certificate.

Diploma in Marketing & Advertising
This diploma imparts digital skills in advertising and marketing. The curriculum is industry relevant and is constantly adapting to the ever changing trends of the market. Taught by industry-experienced lecturers, using real-life projects, this Project-Based-Learning system (PBL) future-proofs students while giving them valuable industry experience and exposure. Entry requirement is 3 credits in the SPM/IGCSE or equivalent school leaving certificate. It prepares students for 2nd year entry into the locally taught, University of Sunderland BA (Hons) in Advertising & Design. Students will also be able to transfer to their final year in the UK with our selected university partners.

Diploma in Graphic Design
This diploma teaches digital design skills and knowledge for the advertising and design industries. The curriculum is holistic and dynamic, constantly adapting to the ever changing trends of the market. Taught by industry-experienced lecturers, using real-life projects, this Project-Based-Learning system (PBL) future-proofs students while giving them valuable industry experience and exposure. Entry requirement is 3 credits in the SPM/IGCSE or equivalent school leaving certificate. It prepares students for 2nd year entry into the locally taught, University of Sunderland BA (Hons) in Advertising & Design. Students will also be able to transfer to their final year in the UK with our selected university partners.

Diploma in Mass Communication
This diploma gives students digital skills in professional communication, video content production, journalism and public relations. The curriculum is broad-based and constantly adapting to the ever changing trends of the market. Taught by industry-experienced lecturers, using real-life projects, this Project-Based-Learning system (PBL) future-proofs students while giving them valuable industry
experience and exposure. Entry requirement is 3 credits in the SPM/IGCSE or equivalent school leaving certificate. It prepares students for 2nd year entry into the locally taught, University of Sunderland BA (Hons) in Media, Culture and Communication. Students will also be able to transfer to their final year in the UK with our selected university partners.

Diploma in Broadcasting & Film
This diploma imparts digital skills in film/ video production, sound design and broadcasting. The curriculum is Industry-focused and is constantly adapting to the ever changing trends of the market. Taught by industry-experienced lecturers, using real-life projects, this Project-Based-Learning system (PBL) future-proofs students while giving them valuable industry experience and exposure. Entry requirement is 3 credits in the SPM/IGCSE or equivalent school leaving certificate. It prepares students for 2nd year entry into the locally taught, University of Sunderland BA (Hons) in Film Production. Students will also be able to transfer to their final year in the UK with our selected university partners.

DEGREE COURSES:

UK Transfer Degrees (2+1)
Students of this programme will study 2 years in Malaysia and complete the final year of their degree in a UK partner university. In the two years of study at IACT College students will have broad exposure in advertising, branding, marketing, graphic design, film & video production, journalism and public relations. In their final year in a UK partner university, students can then choose their area of specialisation. Entry to this programme is a Pre-U foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.0 or equivalent Pre-U qualification.

BA (Hons) Advertising & Design (3+0)
This three year degree is taught completely locally by IACT College and is awarded by the University of Sunderland. This degree integrates the strategising, conceptualising and execution of advertising and design concepts. It is suitable for students who want to become the idea generators and content producers for the fast moving digital marketing, design and advertising industry. Every student will be exposed to the real-life demands of creating and executing advertising campaigns while building an industry-ready portfolio of work. Entry to this programme is a Pre-U foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.0, or equivalent Pre-U qualification. Advanced year 2 entry is granted to holders of the IACT Diploma in Marketing & Advertising or Diploma in Graphic Design.

BA (Hons) Media, Culture & Communication (3+0)
This three year degree is taught completely locally by IACT College and is awarded by the University of Sunderland. This degree explores communication and the digital realms of journalism, public relations and film. It is suitable for students who want to become the expert communicators and content producers for the fast moving journalism, PR industry and film. Entry to this programme is a Pre-U foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.0, or equivalent Pre-U qualification. Advanced year 2 entry is granted to holders of the IACT Diploma in Mass Communication.

BA (Hons) Film Production (3+0)
This three year degree is taught completely locally by IACT College and is awarded by the University of Sunderland. This degree explores film and video production from concept development, scripting, shooting, directing and producing movies for all film and digital video genres. It is suitable for students who want to become the expert film and video content producers for the fast moving film and marketing industries. Entry to this programme is a Pre-U foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.0, or equivalent Pre-U qualification. Advanced year 2 entry is granted to holders of the IACT Diploma in Broadcasting & Film
